UI/UX Design

Impact of UI|UX on Technologies Demand

Published on | February 9, 2023

Intro

We live in a time of rapid change, where our behaviors are being reshaped by the use of technology in all our daily activities, our education, our medical care, even our consumer behavior, and much more activities. These changes led to an increase in the demand for technology in all sectors, followed by many pressures related to what users want and how they want these technologies to look like. Rather, it has become one of the basic components considered in building business models for applications and websites, the expectations of the end users and their experience with the system they use, so what are User Experience and User Interfaces?

What is UI|UX

UX| UI refers to User experience and User Interfaces terms, simply the user interface means the graphical layout of an application or website, and the User experience is concerned with the way how users interact with the interface elements that the UI designers created. A key part of the design process is model building, where the designer considers all the observations and sufficient research and conveys a distinctive experience to the users. As digital services are becoming more common, users' experiences and expectations are also increasing. To talk extensively about each term starting from the User interface which means the human-first approach to designing the aesthetic experience of a product which focuses on all visual touch points that enable users to interact with the product through multiple combinations of colors, patterns, animations, and buttons, innovative designers deal with these elements for the digital products in order to delight the users aesthetically and make it more valuable to use, in simple words the user interface is the bridge between the value of the product and the extent to which users are accustomed to it and its adoption as a main component in their daily activities. Turning to talk about the user experience it’s the human-first approach to product design which focuses on the full experience in the user journey using the product, where business analysis and designers work on the structural solutions for pain points that users face with either physical or digital products, all these efforts gathered in order to create a real relation between users and product in an effective manner.

Future of UI|UX

There are many trends in UX and UI that are constantly changing based on the massive amount of data collected by users year after year, and even month after month! As the world's dramatic changes are no longer controlled, as technology advances, they are also growing closer together. Below is a summarized trend to the UX|UI future that designers should take into mind in building applications.

Password-Less Use

Users today shift to useless passwords and remember them; it can be classified as one of the pain points between their desire to protect their data and access products without having to remember (and change every three months) a million passwords. It has been reported that products are slow to adopt password-less login. However, this is the future, as it is estimated that every user uses 80 apps for their various activities and needs and is barely able to remember only 14% of them.

High Demand For Low-Code Tools

Advances in low-code technology will result in the widespread adoption of UI/UX design and impending fundamental changes. The use of low-code and visual interfaces can allow fewer technical users to manipulate data and self-serve their technical problems, which can speed up innovation and eliminate the barrier of coding requirements. Low coding techniques also give space for citizen developers to transfer their personal experiences and transform them into user interfaces and interactive user experiences.

Simplicity

A design thinking landscape in which less is more is the essence of UI/UX. Consumer-grade simplicity is preferred by power users. There has been a change in the perception of design even within the product and technology industries. It is no longer necessary to distinguish between UX and UI, since they work together to form a “product design” perception in order to present all user expectations in an effective way using simple steps when the user experience is compromised by complexity, even the best-designed product will fail.

Impact of Emerging Technologies on UX|UI Design

Innovative developments directly impact user experiences. There has been a massive advancement in technology, so has design and consumer experience. To provide a better user experience, UI/UX designers must be proficient in specific techniques as a result of the growing number of emerging technologies that affect the UX|UI such as:

Touchless Gesture Control

one of the most emerging technologies that affect the UX is the gesture control system, simply its a system that works by tracking the movements of a person's hand through sensors to apply for users' orders on the device without touching. so, users' devices will soon no longer require them to touch them. they will only need to hold their hands in the air and pinch their fingers together to perform any task easily. It is certain that such technologies are directly reflected in the gestures used and how to employ them in building interactive user interfaces with them. moreover, designers would be required to research and study human motions and ergonomics. It would help them create efficient gesture-based interfaces which indicate more pressure to find the best way to do this!

Artificial Intelligence

AI technology has been used in chatbots in recent years in many uses, recently it is also being shifted in user interfaces. With the advancement of natural language processing, it is now possible to create much more user-friendly experiences by interpreting what users say and understanding what they want. Interaction with machines is becoming easier, more convenient, and more natural, and users start to accept AI technology and start to expect more uses with it in their daily use activities. A great deal of progress has been made in artificial intelligence and machine learning over the past few years where Designers and many technical teams were able to rely on it to build user expectations, design interfaces, and build user experiences based on it. As an example, face recognition software is becoming more mature, friendly, and easy to use and in the not-too-distant future, it may even be possible to recognize emotions through behavioral biometrics for users. As AI and machine learning become more powerful, but for sure limitations should be kept in mind and ethics should be considered too as a priority.

Voice User Interfaces (VUI)

Voice user interfaces constitute real technical progress in the field of user experience, as they extinguish the nature of simplicity and interactivity for the user, and you can see successful and global models such as Amazon Alexa, Google Home, and Apple’s Siri. In simple terms, Voice User Interfaces can make the consumer experience easier, more enjoyable, and more convenient. Multitasking becomes easier and a human-tech relationship forms. Creating effective voice UIs requires understanding voice communication and how to design a conversation, as there is no screen involved between the user and VUI. Despite the fact that there are defects in the innovation, with multiple issues related to adopting this technology but no one denies that it can reflect a real revolution in the UI era, it also can be redressed throughout the years to come and build a genuinely voice-based UI culture.
